Jim Laing, Past President
Jim graduated with a Science degree from the University of Manitoba and subsequently earned a Chartered Accountant designation. He moved to Edmonton in 1975 to join BDO Dunwoody, where he became a partner in 1977. His responsibilities included reviewing and auditing financial statements and providing advice to clients on accounting and taxation matters.
In 2000, Jim took early retirement to pursue his passion of investing in the stock market. For the last ten years, he has continued to analyze and invest in public companies. He joined the St. Albert Senior Citizens' Club three years ago to play bridge and became a director of the club last year. Jim and his wife Maggie have lived in St. Albert since 1979. They have three grown children who all live in Edmonton and who have given them three delightful granddaughters. Jim confesses that babysitting them is his real job and passion.
