
Tom Clarke, Director
Tom Clarke is a retired civil consulting engineer/project manager (BSc – U of S – 1963) who spent 47 years with UMA Engineering. After practicing for 25 years in Saskatoon, two years in Thompson, MB and six years in Victoria, B.C. managing major segments of the Vancouver Island Highway Program he was transferred to St. Albert in 1996. Since then, he has been involved in all sections of the ring roads around both Edmonton (Anthony Henday Drive) and Calgary (Stoney Trail). Initially, he was manager of the Owner’s Engineering team which assisted Alberta Transportation with development of the successful P3 process and then as manager or advisor for Owner’s Engineering teams for three segments of the Edmonton ,and two segments of the Calgary, rings. Since retiring in 2009 he has advised Alberta Transportation directly. Teambuilding, partnering and value engineering received major focus during his career.
Tom and his wife, Marg, have two sons and one daughter who have blessed them with six grandchildren. He has been an active member of The St. Albert 50+ Club, participating in activities such as snooker, golf, bridge and cribbage for much of the past decade, and as a volunteer at club functions such as Happy Hours. He was an ambassador for the Alberta 55+ Winter Games and the Canada Olympic Winter Games. Tom also volunteered to facilitate the session at which the club’s new building requirements were developed as currently chairs the club’s New Building Committee. This is his first year serving on the Board of Directors.
