The St. Albert Senior Citizens’ Club is the proud recipient of a $25,000 New Horizons Grant for 2008. This grant will enable us to facilitate resources and programming that promote seniors involvement in the community.
The St. Albert Senior Citizens’ Club will coordinate a Seniors Link Project that includes three main components:
- Intergenerational Buddy System – to enhance relationships with seniors and youth.
- Help Link Seniors with services and resources they require – improve the lives of seniors by connecting them with the information services and support they need to live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives.
- Identifying Community partners to help identify seniors at risk in the community and increase awareness in the community of seniors at risk and how to report incidents.
An advisory board will be established utilizing community partners. The current members of the New Horizons Seniors Advisory Committee will be asked to continue, along with representatives from other stakeholder agencies in the community.
