Adult Day Program Model

The program is structured on social and recreational activities designed to stimulate the participant's functional abilities which would include:

  • fine motor skills

  • increased mental stimulation

  • conversational skills

  • interpersonal skill development

  • new friendships

WHO ATTENDS:
Do you know someone who is lonely or new to the area?
Do you know of someone who needs to meet with their peers?
Do you know of a caregiver who would like a day off?

Goals

 

PROMOTE: maximum independence and quality of life vital to the physical, mental, emotional and recreational needs of the individuals. To develop new friendships and interests.

ASSIST: individuals to remain in their own homes as long as possible. To assist newcomers to the community.

PROVIDE: support and give a break to the people caring for individuals in need.

FULFILL: a specific role in community long term support programs.

Staff

 

The program is run by a qualified coordinator. Such qualifications include recreation and/or rehabilitation experience, as well as practical knowledge working with older and handicapped people.

 

 

Attendance

 

Please note registration is required; THERE IS NO DROP-IN SERVICE. Clients may enroll into the program once or twice a week, according to individual needs; 12 clients will be accommodated per day. The client may lose their place in the program with unexplained absenteeism. The client may continue attending as long as admission criteria are met.



Admission Criteria

  • Individuals needing social, mental, physical and emotional stimulation

  • Has appropriate social behavior

  • Able to feed oneself

  • Manageable wandering behavior

  • Absence of aggressive behavior

  • Able to get on handibus independently

  • Manage or controlled continence

  • Does not require regular caregiver as medical assistant at the program

Referrals

 

Anyone may refer - an interview will take place following referral. Please call the Executive Director or the Adult Day Program Coordinator for more information.

The Adult Day Program is funded in part by the St. Albert Family & Community Support Services (F.C.S.S.)

 

 

Transportation

 

A small passenger bus, with several volunteer bus drivers, is available to available to seniors in the community.  A fee of $3 can take passengers to the Club, Legion, Curling Rink, Grandin Medical Clinic, Grandin Mall, the Library or to your home. Reservations can be made by calling the Club at 459-0433.  Also, advance notice of cancellations would be appreciated.

The Willows Gift Shop, located in the main lobby, has a wide selection of handmade clothing and craft articles. Articles for sale are received on a consignment basis and many are donated.

It also sells fine wooden articles produced by the Woodworking Shop. The Gift Shop is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or by request at Front Desk.

 

 

             Woodworking Shop

 

Fully equipped woodworking shop available to all members. Guests must be accompanied by member. Sign in at Front Desk and pay $5.00 drop-in fee.

Rentals

 

Are you looking for a location to host a wedding, fundraiser or social? The Auditorium, Dining Room and Board Room of the St. Albert Seniors Citizens' Club are available for rent to the general public. They are available weekdays, evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. Kitchen facility available with rental if required, as well as an assortment of extra items. For information on available dates, please call (780) 459-0433 or email Robyn@stalbertseniorsclub.org.

 

Tuesday Health Workshops

 

Blood Pressure Program
Have your blood pressure monitored and consult with our experts about your problems. Tuesdays, 1:00 - 3:00 pm. No appointment is necessary.


Medication Review

 

If you have a question, ask your friendly neighborhood pharmicist, Peter Macek from Save On Foods. He will have the answer. Pick a date and time convenient for you and call the Club at 459-0433 to discuss your medication needs.

Clinics

 

Clinics are by appointment only unless otherwise indicated.

 

Blood Pressure

Tuesdays 1:00pm - 3:00pm.  No appointment necessary.

 

Hearing Clinic

Alternate Monday Mornings, 10:00 - Noon. Call 1-866-547-4327 for an appointment.

 

Foot Clinic

First, third and fourth Friday of every month, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Call the Club at (780) 459-0433 to book yours. (NOTE: No clinic on March 30, 2007)

 

Eye Clinic

First Friday of every month, 10:00am - 1:00pm.  Call the Club at (780) 459-0433 for an appointment.

Nail Technician

 

Provides Pedicures and Manicures on Wednesdays from 8:30am -4:30pm.  Please call the office for appointments.  Book early to avoid disappointment.

Legal Consultation

 

Brad Cody from Goldsman & Ritzen is available for legal consultation once a month.
